Oak Aye, Let’s do this!

Oak Aye, Let’s do this!

In a cramped underground tavern, a group of comrades share a quiet drink - until a tense exchange with an unwelcome stranger sets everything spiralling. If you’ve seen Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, you probably know the scene. It’s one of Jean’s favourites. And it’s exactly where this beer gets its name.

When Miguel announced he’d be tossing whisky barrel oak chips into the next fermentation tank, he followed it up with:
“It could go either way.”

Not the most reassuring statement, to be honest. But once we went through the recipe, the risks, and the potential weirdness, Jean couldn’t help but think of that same bar scene. Or maybe it was just the mention of whisky.

The final moment in the film comes when Lt. Hicox raises his glass and calls his adversary “old boy” - a nod to both respect and resignation. A salute that signals what’s to come. It just... stuck.

So here we are.

Old Boy is now part of our core range - a bold, whisky-touched beer brewed with oak chips salvaged from barrels that had reached the end of their life. Instead of becoming yet another decorative table in a bar, these oak staves got a second shot — bringing subtle whisky depth, warmth, and character to this unique release.

Cheers to brewing with risk. Cheers to second chances. And long live circular economies.
